KIP Day

I had such a good time! First, I met up with the girls at an Irish pub/resturant and had some kick ass foods, then I went around the corner to Stitches with Style-a great yarn store that had loads and loads of-well-everything. Yarn, books, notions, bags, ect. I bought a super cute Lantern Moon sock bag, and a skein of Sockotta yarn. (Really-who can't use more sock yarn?) And we just sat, and knitted, and chatted, and there was a Dunkin Donuts in the same shopping plaza, and I got a coffee coolatta thingy. Yum! And it was just such a great day. They are talking about doing something like that once a month or so. I'd go! It was only an hour and a half drive. (I may or may not have gotten lost-but only once!) I missed the shopping center and had to turn around, but I had only gone a couple of miles past it. I happen to be talking to my sister at the time, so she got the brunt of my freak out. Lucky her. So really it took me longer to get there then to get home, but still it wasn't bad.

That was my day! I decided very late last night to go, and Mapquested the directions this morning. It was super last minute, but I'm really glad I went. I had such a good time! Although, I really should have gotten pictures while I was there, but you'll have this. Oh, and I got lots done on both my Trekking sock, and my sweater.

Happy Knitting!

June KAL

June KAL

Ok, so here is the June dishcloth (or dishrag, as we say in my house!) and I think it came out pretty good! I plan on casting on my 2nd trekking sock tonight. Again, not afraid of 'second sock syndrome' . I'm excited. Love doing a basic, stockinette sock. To me-it's better then doing some fancy shmancy pattern that you have to be all careful about. Piss on that! But-I am not anti-pattern or anything. I enjoy the challenge of the pattern, but it's nice to do something mindless that-to others-seems all complicated. It's all in the yarn baby! Love the yarn that does the stripes all by itself. So fun!

going to SnB tomorrow! Can't wait to show off my dishcloth. And have a nice big coffee. And maybe a pretzel. I love Thursdays! (And sometimes Mondays!!)

See ya! Happy knitting!

Sunday

Back to work tomorrow, after a relaxing weekend of knitting. I finished June's dishcloth. I'll post the photo later. Worked a tiny bit on the sweater. Sat on my butt all weekend chilling out. It was awesome! But now it's the dreaded Sunday night. Remember in school, when Sunday night meant the end of the fun weekend time, and sleeping in, and stuff? Life has not changed much. Except now I have to drive my own ass there. My life is exactly like high school. Still have to be somewhere at a certain time 5 days a week, and I can't leave until a certain time. I still have to put my name and the date at the top of a pice of paper before I put anything else on it. There are still the popular people, and the not so popular people. There are still cliques, and people too cool to be friends with certain other people. And everyone still gossips. The "real world" you are supposed to enter after high school is just like high school. Except they pay you for your time. And you have bills, and that is where the "have to" things come in. Yes, I have to work. I work to pay for the car that takes me to work. I work for the gas that fuels the car that takes me to work. I work to pay for the clothes I wear to work. I work to pay for the "fun" stuff I need to do because I'm stressed about work. Ok-I'm done.

So, everyone have a good week. Keep walking past the open windows.

Wen being goofy

Anywho. Two posts in one night! Probably because I still haven't figured out that whole 2 photos on one post thing. (eyeroll) Wen, remind me please!!

So this will be non-knitting post of the day.

There is this guy who calls my cell phone. It's the wrong number. I think. He usually asks for "Chris". And I say "You have the wrong number" and hang up. Then, a decent amount of time goes by, and he calls again. It's anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks. This time it was, I think, well over a month. Maybe two. It's been a while. But today my phone rang, and this has happened so many times, that I recognize the number. And I promised myself the last time he called (7:30 am on a weekday!) that the next time he called, I would try to figure out what the issue was. Was he really bad at dialing? Did he not have his friends' numbers pre-programed in his phone like normal people? Did he call just to hear the sound of my voice because 1) I know him, or 2) he's creepy stalker guy with a wierd fetish?? What was the deal? This whole stay on the phone thing was totally forgotten in the moment. (Plus, what if he's in prison or some sicko who just calls random numbers??) My fear-however unwarrented-just kind of keeps me from asking what I need to know. Although this time, I didn't hang up right away. And he asked for someone else. But trust me-it was him. Like I said, I know the number. Anywho, it went like this:

Me: hello?

Scary caller guy: "Is B---- there?" Didn't quite catch the name-started with a B.

Me: you have the wrong number.

SCG: Oh, I'm sorry, I do have the wrong number. (Something in his tone makes me think he knows this already, and has been aware for quite some time.)

Me: No problem.

SCG: Thanks.

Me: Your welcome.

SCG: See ya. (Who says that to a wrong number?? Scary caller guy maybe?? And the way he said it, was kind of like he knew who I was. )

Me: Bye!

Wierd, right? So I speculate: Is it someone I know? Did he once call me by accident, and he liked the sound of my voice? Is my phone number one diget off from one of his friend's? Was he somewhere when I gave a friend my number out loud, and he wrote it down? Or is he scary stalker guy?? Any thoughts? Should I call him, and ask for a wrong name? I have his number!

This was the highlight of my Saturday. And a trip to the grocery store. Because I live the exciting life. Actually, I've been knitting all day. It's been a good day!

Good night!

June Dishcloth in progress

It's coming along I guess. It doesn't look like the pattern, but I still think it looks neat. I was more then a little hos-tile about this pattern. And that was before I even started! As a cast on, I was cursing out Karen, who picked it for the June SnB KAl. Why didn't she pick something easier??? But then I got going on it, and I kind of love it a little. It's beautiful. And even with my tight ass knitting, it's still a good size. Actually, I think it's big. Again-tight knitter. This is good. I'm using size 8 needles, and I'm anxious to see how everyone else's is coming.

My only complaint at this point is that I have to pay strict attention on the pattern rows. But, it's worth it. Tomorrow I will post a photo of how the top down sweater is looking. I can't wait until that's done! At this point-I just want to wear it! It's sooo super soft, knit in Knitpick's Shine worsted. It's a dream to knit with!

Honestly.

What is up with the breaking of lines?? Wen?? Are ya there? What's up with that??

Chinese Friday

Well, finally Friday. Why is it that the four day work weeks always
seem to take longer then a regular week? Especially when you just want
to get home and knit. (And maybe the girl next to you is in a piss ass
mood.(eyeroll))

Anywho. So I have been working on the sweater. It's coming along pretty good. Whenever I look at it, I just sigh. What a boring pain in the ass. Then, like I
said, I get sucked in. I'm lost. But I need to cast on the second sock
to the Trekking one I've already posted, and I need to cast on for
June's KAL dishcloth. I just don't know about that pattern though. And I
guess I'll use size 8 needles, although the pattern calls for 6 or 7.
But-I am a tight knitter, so.

A word about the "second sock syndrome". For me-this is not a problem. And I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I am a process knitter. I like the actual knitting
part. To be fair, though, I would not craft anything that didn't have a
purpose once it was done. I'm not a "sit-it-on-a-shelf-isn't-it-pretty"
kind of person. When I finish something, I want to use it in some way.
This is why I don't make many bags. I love bags. I have two felted
bags. And I don't use either one of them, so what is the point? But
truly-when I am sitting knitting, my mind isn't on 'how fast can I get
this done??' I'm just in my own world, knitting away, marveling at the
magic I am creating with just some fiber and two (or 4) sticks, and
thinking about life in general. I enjoy being in that moment.

No pictures today. It's late, and I have sassy pants project to work on.
But I have pictures to post, and a whole weekend of knitting. I'm a
happy camper!
